What should I do if I am
INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT?

1. Exchange Information
Stop your car. Exchange identification and insurance information with the other driver. If you think that the other driver may attempt to leave the scene, write down his license plate number.

2. Call the Police
You should always make a police report. If the police if the police will not come to the scene of the accident, then you must go to the station. Be courteous and polite with the police at all times.

3. Seek Medical Attention Immediately
If you have been injured, go to the nearest emergency room. If you begin to feel the symptoms of an injury some time shortly after the accident, seek medical attention immediately upon the onset of those symptoms. It is essential that you do not delay.

4. Notify Your Own Insurance Company within 24 Hours
ALWAYS notify you own insurance company that you have been in an accident within 24 hours. Failure to do so may allow your company to avoid coverage. You may end up needing some of the coverage you have purchased.

5. Do Not Give a Recorded Statement
Do not speak to any representative of the other driver's insurance company before speaking to your own attorney. Remember, the American civil justice system is an adversarial process. Your adversary may have worked on as many as 10,000 other cases. How experienced are you?

6. Contact your lawyer
Contact your lawyer within 24 hours of the accident. You need an experience advocate on your side.
